Roof Deck Introduction
Steel Roof Deck, Acoustical Deck, Cellular Deck

Low maintenance, high strength Wheeling roof deck is designed for pitched, flat, or arched construction on virtually all types of nonresidential buildings: schools, arenas, malls, supermarkets, auditoriums, and similar structures. Diaphragm design with proper attachment patterns can provide lateral stability, therefore reducing the need for structural bracing. Roof deck is nationally known and specified because it is lightweight, strong, economical, and easy to install.

Acoustical roof deck is identical to standard roof deck, with the exception of perforations along the webs of the ribs. On the job site, rolls of sound absorbing fiber glass are placed between the perforated ribs. NRC ratings of .85 to .95 are possible, depending on the insulating product and the panel type.

Cellular acoustical roof deck has a perforated bottom plate. Sound absorbing fiber glass elements are placed in the cells for NRC ratings of .65 to .90.

Wheeling roof deck is available in two basic finishes: galvanized and thermal setting primer paint. Galvanized roof deck is manufactured from steel conforming to ASTM A653, minimum 33 ksi yield. Two galvanized coating weights are available: standard G-60 and G-90, conforming to ASTM A924. Primer painted roof deck is manufactured from steel conforming to ASTM A611, minimum 33 ksi yield.
